Great article Vidal! It seems Mr. Goldsmith has a powerful approach. He gets his subject's colleagues to buy-into certain breakthru's... then coaches how to acheive them. It is more powerful with a receptive group. When he found a group deadlocked with too much bad water under the bridge... he had to throw in the towel.

Also reminiscent of Landmark's "someday" lecture... someday never comes... be happy now!

It's easy to see the logic: e.g. eat less, exercise more... but often hard to put it into practice! The first situp is the hardest... good stuff!

Yawn... There are no new management rules under the sun. Peter Drucker said most of what was worth saying on how to manage a long time ago. Since then it has all been endless repetition, including the stuff from Goldsmith

Dear Friends,
I am glad that you like my website.
As Gary said, nothing that I am teaching is hard to understand - it is just hard to do.
Please send the link to my website, www.MarshallGoldsmithLibrary.com to your friends.
It is all free - so you have nothing to lose (unless you - like Pat - get bored)!
Life is good.
Marshall

PS - I was on the Board of the Peter Drucker Foundation for 10 years.

If you were blown away by the information on Marshall's website you should read his newest book, What Got You Here Won't Get You There. I just finished it and found it to be very thought-provoking. I was introduced to the book by a businessweek article (http://www.businessweek.com/magazine/content/07_02/b4016088.htm?chan=search). I would highly suggest it to you and your readers. I think his list of 20 habits successful people need to break could lead to some great discussion (http://www.businessweek.com/playbook/06/1228_1.htm). If you get a chance, check it out.
